Trane LED Blink Codes

8 diagnostic blink codes documented

1 Flash (slow) info
No Previous Error

System has no stored fault codes. Normal operation.

  1. No action needed
2 Flashes (slow) critical
System Lockout - Retries Exhausted

Furnace has failed to ignite after maximum retries and is in safety lockout.

  1. Power cycle to reset lockout
  2. Verify gas supply and manual valve
  3. Clean flame sensor with fine steel wool
  4. Test igniter resistance
  5. Check gas valve operation
3 Flashes (slow) high
Pressure Switch Error

Pressure switch failed to close or opened during operation.

  1. Check flue and intake pipes for obstructions
  2. Inspect pressure hose connections
  3. Test pressure switch operation
  4. Measure inducer motor amps
4 Flashes (slow) high
Open High Limit Device

High temperature limit switch has opened due to overheating.

  1. Replace air filter
  2. Check all vents and returns are open
  3. Test blower motor operation
  4. Verify gas pressure
5 Flashes (slow) critical
Flame Sensed Without Gas Valve Energized

Flame detected when gas valve is not commanded on โ€” potential gas leak.

  1. SAFETY: Close manual gas valve immediately
  2. Test gas valve for leak-through
  3. Inspect flame sensor wiring
  4. Replace gas valve if confirmed leaking
6 Flashes (slow) medium
Power or Low Voltage Interrupt

Power disruption or 24V low voltage condition detected.

  1. Check transformer output voltage
  2. Inspect all wire connections
  3. Test for thermostat wire damage or short
7 Flashes (slow) high
Gas Valve Circuit Error

Problem with the gas valve electrical circuit.

  1. Test gas valve coil resistance
  2. Check wiring between board and gas valve
  3. Test board gas valve output voltage
9 Flashes (slow) medium
Check Polarity / Ground Fault

Line voltage polarity is reversed or ground is missing.

  1. Check outlet polarity with meter
  2. Verify ground connection
  3. Correct wiring at panel
