Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about HVAC IQHUB

🚀 Getting Started

What is HVAC IQHUB? +
HVAC IQHUB is a smart monitoring system that connects to your HVAC equipment and provides real-time temperature readings, amp draw monitoring, AI-powered diagnostics, and instant alerts when something goes wrong. It's like a check engine light for your heating and cooling system.
How does it work? +
  1. Install the hub near your HVAC equipment (or have a technician install it)
  2. Connect sensors - temperature probes and amp clamps attach to your system
  3. Hub sends data via built-in LTE cellular (no WiFi needed)
  4. View dashboard - see real-time stats, history, and AI diagnostics on web or mobile
  5. Get alerts - receive notifications when issues are detected
Do I need to be technical to use it? +
No! The homeowner dashboard is designed to be simple - you'll see green/yellow/red status indicators and plain-English explanations. However, if you want to install the hardware yourself, basic familiarity with HVAC equipment is helpful. We recommend professional installation for most users.

🔧 Hardware

What's included in the hardware kit? +
  • IQHUB monitoring hub (nRF9151 LTE cellular)
  • 3x DS18B20 temperature probes (supply, return, outdoor)
  • CT clamp for amp monitoring
  • Mounting hardware and cable ties
  • Quick start guide
The hub has built-in LTE cellular - no WiFi or SIM card required!
Do I need WiFi? +
No! The IQHUB uses LTE cellular data (included in your subscription). This means it works in basements, utility closets, and rental properties where WiFi access is difficult. It's also more reliable than WiFi for 24/7 monitoring.
Can I install it myself? +
Yes, if you're comfortable working around HVAC equipment. The temperature probes just attach with thermal tape, and the CT clamp clips around a wire (no electrical work required). However, we recommend professional installation for:
  • Warranty purposes
  • Optimal sensor placement
  • 24V terminal monitoring setup
Many HVAC contractors offer installation as part of a maintenance visit.
What HVAC systems are compatible? +
IQHUB works with virtually any residential or light commercial HVAC system:
  • Gas furnaces (80% and 90%+)
  • Electric furnaces and heat strips
  • Heat pumps (air source and geothermal)
  • Central air conditioners
  • Mini-split systems
  • Boilers with forced-air handlers

💳 Subscription & Billing

How much does it cost? +
  • Hardware: $449 one-time purchase
  • Single System: $25/month - perfect for homeowners
  • Landlord Pro: $19/month per system (2+ properties) - includes multi-property dashboard
Both plans include LTE cellular data, AI diagnostics, 3-year data history, and all alert types. See our pricing page for details.
Is there a contract or commitment? +
No contracts! You can cancel your subscription anytime. Service continues until the end of your current billing period. The hardware is yours to keep.
What happens if I cancel? +
If you cancel your subscription:
  • Service continues until end of billing period
  • The hardware stops sending data (no active cellular)
  • Historical data is retained for 90 days
  • You can reactivate anytime by resubscribing

✨ Features

What alerts will I receive? +
  • Temperature alerts: System not heating/cooling, extreme temps
  • Equipment alerts: High amp draw, short cycling, long run times
  • AI diagnostics: Dirty filter, refrigerant issues, flame sensor problems
  • Offline alerts: Hub disconnected or power loss
You can customize alert thresholds and notification preferences (email, SMS, push).
Can I share access with my HVAC contractor? +
Yes! You can invite your HVAC contractor to view your system data. They'll see real-time readings and history, which helps them diagnose issues before arriving on-site. You control access and can revoke it anytime.
How long is data stored? +
We store 3 years of historical data, allowing you to:
  • Compare heating seasons year-over-year
  • Track equipment degradation over time
  • Provide data to contractors for maintenance
  • Verify repair effectiveness

🔍 Troubleshooting

My hub shows offline - what do I do? +
  1. Check power: Is the LED on the hub lit?
  2. Check location: Metal enclosures can block cellular signal
  3. Power cycle: Unplug for 30 seconds, then reconnect
  4. Check subscription: Ensure your subscription is active
If issues persist, contact support with your device ID.
Temperature readings seem wrong +
  • Check probe placement: Supply probe should be in the supply plenum, not touching metal
  • Verify connections: Ensure probes are fully plugged in
  • Allow calibration time: Readings stabilize after 15-30 minutes
  • Compare to thermostat: Return air temp should be close to your thermostat reading
I'm not receiving alerts +
  1. Check notification settings: Go to Settings → Notifications in your dashboard
  2. Verify email/phone: Ensure your contact info is correct
  3. Check spam folder: Add our email to your contacts
  4. Review alert rules: Make sure the alert type is enabled
